About
Film director
based in Malmö.
Alessandro Stigliano (1991) is a Swedish-Italian writer and director born and raised in Tuscany. A self-taught filmmaker, he moved to Sweden in 2012 and is now based in Malmö. Across his films, Alessandro explores how intimate desires collide with social expectations, using genre and dark humor to examine the moral tensions hidden within everyday life.
His work has screened at Academy-qualifying festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand and the Melbourne International Film Festival, among others.
His films include shorts like KAKOR (SVT Play), a zero-budget comedy about a frustrated, underappreciated programmer struggling to balance work and fatherhood; and GOD MOR (soon on SVT Play), about a preschool teacher who suspects her son may be involved in a violent incident at school and must choose between her professional duty and protecting him. Alongside his narrative work, Alessandro has over ten years of experience directing commercials.
He currently lives in Malmö with his family, where he is developing his debut feature film DU, EFTERLÄNGTADE.
